Karen Googe – Program Director Karen enjoys working with Safe & Sober because she has been able to meet a lot of students and speak one-on-one about issues facing teens and hopes that she has been able to guide them in the right direction regarding drugs and alcohol. Karen states “I am very proud of Michael Lewis and David Daggett for their work and support of this program. I want to see SSPN grow into a national program so it can touch and save as many young people as possible. Too many young lives have been cut short because of driving under the influence .We can work together to save teens and their families the grief of losing a loved one.” Karen also serves as the Law Office Administrator of Lewis & Daggett. Her duties include the overall management of the firm's operations including human resources, technology, operations, and facility management. |

Thomas J. Boone – Assistant Program Director Tom is a Pre-litigation Legal Assistant with Lewis & Daggett. In his role, he assists in determining if potential clients have a case and if they do, is often assigned to the client to gather all pertinent information for the case and answer client questions. Tom also serves as the Assistant Director of Lewis & Daggett’s Safe and Sober Prom Night Program. He brings a vast amount of special event management experience, as well as enthusiasm and dedication to the position. His enthusiasm for this important cause is born out of his desire to help young people have positive influences and avoid potentially harmful situations as they move toward adulthood. Tom was born and raised in Winston-Salem and loves calling North Carolina home. He lives in Pfafftown with his wife and two daughters. He is an avid golfer and also enjoys music, movies and the study of history. |

David D. Daggett – Co-Founder David and his law firm partner Michael Lewis founded the Safe and Sober Prom Night Program in 1991. Together, they have also practiced personal injury law since 1985. David is experienced in assisting clients with all types of injury cases, including serious injuries, wrongful death, and insurance claims. It was his dedication and concern for injured people that led him wanting to assist teens in making smart choices that can save countless lives and prevent life-changing injuries.
A graduate of Wake Forest University Law School, David is designated a North Carolina "Super Lawyer" by Law and Politics and Charlotte Magazine, past-Chair of the North Carolina Conference of Bar Presidents, past President of the Forsyth County Bar and 21st Judicial District Bar Associations, as well as past-President of The Young Lawyers Association.
He is also a dedicated athlete who has completed over 140 triathlons and 14 Ironman competitions. |

Michael Lewis – Co-Founder Michael began practicing law in 1970 upon graduating from Wake Forest Law School. A decade later, he obtained record verdicts in several North Carolina counties and wanted to concentrate his practice on personal injury cases. In 1985, he joined forces with David D. Daggett and formed the law firm of Lewis & Daggett.
Michael excels at forming great relationships with his clients, a quality that has made him vital to the growth of a community service program, Safe Sober Prom Night, he and partner David Daggett started in 1991. By gathering support from Carolina Ford Dealers and Wendy's, Michael has helped the program expand to serve high schools all across North & South Carolina. He and his partner, David Daggett, received the Jake Alexander Award from the Governor's Highway Safety Program in 1995 for their efforts. |

Michael J. Lewis and David D. Daggett founded the Safe and Sober program in 1991. Since that time, they have received several awards for their service to the community. In 1995, Lewis & Daggett were given the North Carolina Governor's Highway Safety Award for Public Service. They were the first law firm to win the award that is given to individuals who voluntarily and effectively raise awareness of the dangers of driving while impaired and who have successfully implemented an anti-DWI program in their community. In 1996, Lewis & Daggett were again rewarded for their community efforts with the American Bar Association Award for Dignity in Lawyer Advertising for their promotion of Safe and Sober Prom Night, Inc. |
